Harrah's Code of Commitment vows that we will run our business in ways that promote a healthy environment.
CodeGreen is Harrah’s Entertainment’s formal pledge to consider and endeavor to reduce the environmental consequences of the way we do business. We have instituted programs to take us in that direction. These programs are designed to save water and conserve energy while still providing superior service and comfort to our guests.
The Opt-Out Guest Room Linen Program:
A conservation card in each room informs the guest about the program. A guest who prefers to “opt-out” will have their towels and linens changed daily; the card instructs the guest to phone housekeeping with that request. Guests participating in the program may place towels they have used on the shower rod or towel rack and they will not be replaced. When new towels are requested guests place the used towels on the floor or in the bath tub. This program conserves energy and water by significantly reducing the number of linens and towels washed daily.
Set Back the Stat:
Manual thermostats in all guest room are set by housekeeping at a temperature appropriate to the local season and within a reasonable comfort range once a guest has checked out. If a guest has reset the thermostat while staying with us the thermostat will not be reset until the guest has checked out.
In-room mini-refrigerators that have an on/off temperature setting are set to the off position.
Ongoing Green Projects:
We use energy efficient lighting and conserve energy by turning outside lights off during daylight hours.
We replaced the Hot Water Pump System and significantly reduced natural gas consumption.
Harrah's plastic water bottles are no longer used by employees in the back of house.
We recycle white office paper, mixed paper and aluminum cans. In addition we recycle copier/toner cartridges, corrugated cardboard and scrap metals.
We recyle 300 gallons of cooking oil per week.
Employees with direct deposit receive pay stubs online rather than print out.
Employee Relations holds classes to instruct employees on how to save electric bulbs.
We have placed stickers on lights and computers to remind employees to turn off light and power down computers and printers.
